About the event
In ancient Indian texts there are various references to sincere 'seekers' who retreated into the forest and meditated for decades in search of divinity.
As a result of their determined practise and renunciation, they were said to have experienced enlightenment. Then the seeker became a 'knower' and had the choice to remain in their retreated state or enter back into the world to perform duties with their new knowing or teach others.
In today's world the closest we get to the above practise is weekend/week or longer retreats. We go away on these retreats seeking a deeper connection, not necessarily enlightenment. We hope to come back with a 'knowing' that can allow a more enriching life.
Setting aside the contrast in lifestyles, we can still learn from ancient seekers and their practises. One such practise was, cultivating the 'Four-fold qualities of a seeker'. In order to become capable of perceiving…
